Morillon Ski Resort

Morillon

At The Tasty Ski Company we have luxury catered ski chalets in both Samoens and Morillon. They are towns in Le Grand Massif ski area and are located just 3km apart from each other. Both are located in the Giffre Valley in the northern French Alps, situated between Morzine and Chamonix, and just a 60 minute drive from Geneva airport.

Morillon town has it’s roots in medieval times. The old quarter of town has some beautiful 15th century buildings, not least the wonderful catholic church in the centre of town. Morillon is the home town of the 2006 Olympic downhill gold medallist Antoine Deneriaz. The Morillon tourist office are certainly keen for you to not miss out on this fact, and have put his name on every single cable car heading up to Morillon 1100 from Morillon Village. Indeed, despite only having a couple of thousand inhabitants, Morillon has an incredible knack of producing world class skiers. At The Tasty Ski Company our guests receive a 20% discount from Verneret Sports in Morillon. Verneret Sports is owned by Philippe Verneret, himself a 3-time french ski champion, representing France at two separate Winter Olympics.

Morillon Village in Winter – Le Grand Massif skiing is up to the left.

Morillon is part of Le Grand Massif Ski Area. With over 265km of pisted slopes Le Grand Massif is one of the biggest ski areas in Europe. Le Grand Massif ski area includes the ski resorts of Samoens, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz, and Flaine. To access Le Grand Massif ski area from Morillon, you must take the Morillon Telecabine from Morillon Village up to Morillon 1100. It is then possible to ski the whole Grand Massif ski area from here. It is also possible to ski town back to Morillon Village from Morillon 1100 on either a blue or red run. Unlike a number of other large french ski resorts, Le Grand Massif is extremely well connected with a large network of cable cars and chair lifts enabling you to easily visit Samoens, Morillon, Les Carroz and Flaine in one day.

At The Tasty Ski Company we offer catered ski chalet holidays. Your private chalet chef has one day off a week which gives you the opportunity to try a local Morillon restaurant on the Wednesday. There are a number of great restaurants in Morillon, ranging from the cheap and cheerful to french rustic to Michelin Guide rated restaurants. There are also a couple of great spots for an apres ski vin chaud. For more information on Morillon restaurants click here and for more information on Morillon bars and apres ski click here.
