Samoens Ski Resort

At The Tasty Ski Company we have ski chalets in both Samoens and Morillon. They are towns in Le Grand Massif ski area and are located just 3km apart from each other. Both are located in the Giffre Valley in the northern French Alps, situated between Morzine and Chamonix, and just a 60 minute drive from Geneva airport.

The ski resort of Samoens is a beautiful medieval town that has maintained it’s unique alpine charm unlike a lot of the other large french ski resorts. Samoens has been awarded the prestigious ‘Coq d’Or’ award as one of the prettiest villages in France, and is the only french ski resort classified by the Caisse des Monumets Historiques. Samoens has bags of character, and much of it’s medieval architecture remains in place today.

Samoens Town in Winter

Samoens ski resort has a huge variety of winter activities for both the skier and non-skier. Having attained the national tourist label ‘family plus,’ Samoens is very much geared up for the family ski holiday. Winter activities in Samoens include the weekly alpine market, ice-skating, cross-country skiing, husking sledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and tobogganing. There is also a fantastic botanical garden that offers spectacular views of Samoens and the surrounding valleys, and it is easy to get lost in the winding medieval streets while persusing the local boutiques and delicatessens. For more information on winter activities in Samoens please click here.

Samoens is part of Le Grand Massif Ski Area. With over 265km of pisted slopes Le Grand Massif is one of the biggest ski areas in Europe. Le Grand Massif ski area includes the ski resorts of Samoens, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz, and Flaine. To access Le Grand Massif ski area from Samoens, you must take the Grand Massif Express cable car from Samoens village up to Samoens 1600. It is then possible to ski the whole Grand Massif ski area from here. Unlike a number of other large french ski resorts, Le Grand Massif is extremely well connected with a large network of cable cars and chair lifts enabling you to easily visit Samoens, Morillon, Les Carroz and Flaine in one day.

Samoens Town in Summer

At The Tasty Ski Company we offer catered ski chalet holidays in Samoens, Morillon and Morzine. Your private chalet chef has one day off a week which gives you the opportunity to try a local restaurant in Samoens on the Wednesday. There are a number of top notch restaurants in Samoens, ranging from the cheap and cheerful to french rustic to fine dining experimental cooking. There are also some great spots in Samoens for an apres-ski drink, and a handful of bars open until the small hours. Samoens has a quieter nightlife than your typical large french ski resort, however there are a couple of bars that get very busy, and of course there is the obligatory Irish Pub!
